Men's Recreational Gymnastics

Men's gymnastics is great for the developing boys and builds strong bodies, joint flexibility, and special awareness. In fact, Men's Fitness magazine in 1996 stated that gymnastics was the toughest of all sports! Boys who participate in gymnastics have a head start on all other sports!

Below is a brief explanation of the Men's apparatus:

Floor Exercise: Tumbling skills-gymnasts must show power and control on this event.

Pommel Horse: Pommels is considered the most difficult men's event but also the most subtle. Gymnasts learn to perform circular movements and scissor elements. Gymnasts learn rhythm, flow, control, and precise timing.

Still Rings: Rings requires the greatest amount of strength. Students learn two types of moves on the rings-strength positions and swinging movements. Precision is very important element to successful performance.

Vault: Running fast and jumping hard and high are important to learning how to vault. Boys will learn how to turn a fast run into a vault with exceptional control, height, and power.

Parallel Bars: Parallel bar consists of predominantly swing and flight elements. Gymnasts learn to execute swing elements and skills in which hands release and regrasp the bars.

Horizontal Bar: This event is known as high bar and gymnasts learn to swing in and out of body positions with grip and directional changes.

Trampoline and tumbling track: This event is a training tool for the gymnast to develop air awareness, co-ordination and skill building. Part of the curriculum will include participation in Mini-Olympics, held quarterly, and if they choose two showcase events in December and June.
